For this short documentary, I conducted a brief interview with Kira at her studio and followed up by observing her at her home studio. I used a Canon EOS Rebel T7i for videography, a Zoom H4n recorder with a Rode Lavalier Microphone for audio, and Adobe Premiere Pro for editing.
Turning Pain into Purpose: Jobie Taylor’s Mentorship Journey
When I first learned about Jobie, I immediately knew his story was one that deserved to be shared. After meeting Jobie and seeing him work with the youth at YouthBuild, I quickly realized this was more than just a job for him. He’s a mentor to these young people; some even referred to him as family after knowing him for fewer than five weeks. I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of working on Jobie’s story alongside Elfarouk Harb during my time at the University of Illinois.
